Top 40 Ski Resort Ranking Methodology

So, who are we and who says we get to say? We do. We got really frustrated by skewed rankings, compounded with many of the lists having a conflict of interest with their advertisers. Of the four most watched lists, you find very different approaches to how a ski resort made the list, including:  

• Scientific method - all metric, like driving distance from airport
• Review compilations - too focused on food and nightlife
• Popular vote - influenced by size of surrounding ski population

So, we took the aggregate approach by including consideration for all of the above and averaging. (still weighting [a thumb on scale] for the Northeast). In short, you had to be on at least two lists to make the Top 40 Best Ski Resorts. If not, you probably hit the list of The Rest (below).
